To my Lynn-Mom.

Today is a pretty special yet not often talked about day in our family, it's my sweet stepmomma's birthday or as this blog knows her my Lynn-Mom.

She's not a big fan of her birthday, something that we like to rub in quite a bit, but she's truly one of my closest people and someone I'm glad I have in my circle.

My Lynn-Mom is not someone who calls attention upon herself, so I have to remember to call out her goodness every now and again because a lot of the time she goes unnoticed which may be what she likes, but not what she should get haha.

This song has always been one I use to share how I feel about her and this is what plays when she calls me :)

Happy Birthday Lynn-Mom, I hope you have a wonderful day!

Read My Books.

This weekend I was texting Jayme about the fact that I have a full bookshelf of books that I have yet to read and that I really needed to get on that, she agreed & the subject was shelved, no pun intended.

I was catching up on my bloglovin' feed this morning when I noticed that Michael posted about a Read My Books challenge being put on by a couple of other bloggers and I was like YES! this is perfect! I looked through my shelves and picked a few of them that I thought I could get through in June, so we will see how it goes, but here is my preliminary list!

1|On Writing by Stephen King//This book has been on my to be read list for quite some time and I scored a copy of it at Half Price Books back in February and just haven't made time to read it yet.

2|Nineteen Minutes by Jodi Picoult//I love Jodi Picoult books, and I haven't read one of hers in a great while. I was first introduced to this book when I was in school for court reporting and it was used as dictation/transcription practice, I never finished it and I would get in the zone writing when it was being dictated that I didn't really get a chance to immerse myself in the story.

3|Fly a Little Higher by Laura Sobiech//This book actually has hometown ties since Laura and the entire Sobiech family are from Minnesota! It's the story of her son Zach and his battle with a rare bone cancer as well as his life and legacy.

4|Vegas Love by Jillian Dodd//I truly don't know too much about this book other than the fact that I got it from one of the two Bookworm Boxes I got earlier this year.

5|Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty//This has been on my TBR list for the last year and it's been on my bookshelf waiting for me to read it for quite a while.

Do you have a long TBR list of books you already own? You should join in!

Happiness List | Two.

I think we will be making this a permanent fixture on this here blog for my Thursday posts. See it's my Friday at work and by this day I usually need things to remind me not to stab people, I kid I kid or do I? #retailprobs

Maverick||One of my best friends from my high school years and the years since then and I have reconnected it seems. We would text a little here and there but it feels like we were back in our heyday with the way we were talking yesterday. I've missed her and missed our conversations something fierce. So grateful for OpenDiary for introducing us all those years ago.

Words||I've been perusing Pinterest more lately and I'm loving the quotes I find on there.

Nashville's finale||Totally gave me all the feels. Sad it's over, but happy they wrapped it up so well.

What's making you happy these days?

73 Questions..or something like that.

Apparently Vogue asks it's cover stars 73 questions, also it appears that Cosmo has some beef with that & says it's only 70. After T-Swift's cover, Kaeleen posted the questions and only came up with 69 of them, so all of that to say, this post is loosely based on the 73/70/69 questions from Vogue to their cover people, okay? On Parents.

Good morning, I know it's a Monday, but try your best! The way my new schedule is, today is actually my Tuesday, so I'm in a bit more chipper mood then if it was actually my Monday.

I'm training somebody new in my department at work this last week or so & we were talking about my childhood and her kids' childhood where we were truly the last generation before technology took over.  I was telling her how blessed I felt to have parents that knew the importance of getting us kids outside. Whether we were running over to Grandpa's to have us drop us a mile down the road so we could float down to our house on the river during the summer or swimming in our backyard pool or jumping on our ATVs and dirtbikes to make up our own adventures and race around the track that my uncle built.

Somehow this led me to realize that I never posted really anything for Mother's Day and with Father's Day coming up in a few weeks, I thought I would share a few tidbits on each of my parents, because not only do I have a great Mom and Dad, I also got really lucky in the "step"parent department as well.

I look the most like my momma, and I also have her big heart.  Ever since I was a little girl, she told me that she loved me higher than any mountain top and deeper than any sea, and I know she does, there isn't anything she wouldn't do for me or any of her kids, although there's no contest that I'm her favorite kid.  Some of my favorite memories are from when I was a little girl and her and I would road trip up to her hometown before my little brother was born as well as our road trips up there now because we usually end up making the trip alone & it gives us a chance to catch up and bond even more.

If I've ever made you laugh with my humor & wit, well you can thank my Daddy for that. He taught me to work hard so you can play hard, and that family is the most important thing a person can have and be a part of. He doesn't know the word quit and I get my work ethic from him.  My favorite memories with him include our morning routine when I was younger before he and my mom got divorced, as well as all the times he just calls me to check on me now that I'm out on my own.

If you asked me which of my parents I'm closest with, it would probably be my Lynn-Mom. She's been one of my best friends since I was a junior in high school and though our relationship may not be as close as it was back then, I know that I can call her and get an honest answer with no sugar coating anytime I may need it.  She's the one who has helped nurture my relationship with Jesus and my faith the most  and I'm so grateful for that.  Some of my favorite memories with her include when we used to go do vending down in the cities and we would talk about everything and nothing all at once, as well as our mornings after I stay at my parents now that I'm on my own. My dad's gone to work and Ryan's at school so it's just us, some of the best conversations happen then, probably because we don't have two other people trying to butt in ;)

My stepdad and I probably have the most complicated relationship, it got really strained when I was in high school and honestly, it's a lot better now that we aren't around each other 24/7 like we were when I was living with them  He's one of the smartest people I know though and can fix just about anything if you give him the time to get it done.  He taught me how to be opinionated and gave me my love for NASCAR, I can ask him just about anything and he knows the answer. Some of my favorite memories with him include going to New Hampshire and watching a race with one of our family friends, my Uncle Dave as well as the trips each August we take down to Iowa for the Knoxville Nationals.

Not  many people can say they have pretty good relationships with not only their parents but their stepparents as well and I'm so glad that I can.  I hope all four of my parents know just how much they mean to me and that I'm so glad that they were the ones who I call mine.

Happy List.

I haven't done one of these lists in way too long, so I thought today would be a good day to do another happiness list.

-Thursdays are my new Fridays, I've got a set schedule for my days off at work now & I'm loving it. I'm off Friday & Saturday, I'm a weird person that doesn't mind working Sundays as long as the option to go to church in the morning is always available.

-Being needed makes me happy. It's actually one of the main things about my personality type according to the Myers-Briggs test, anyways, it fills my cup up when I'm able to help or tag along with one of my people do their errands or things they need to complete off of their to-do list, which probably sounds weird, but oh well.

-Summer plans. After these next two weekends, my summer is about to get pretty busy, I'm so excited to see what kind of shenanigans I can get into over the new few months!

-Writing/blogging. I love being able to share my words and thoughts.

Confessions..

I haven't confessed anything in a while so here goes. I confess..

-that most days, I am running on a mixture of a little energy, a lot of coffee & a can or two of Mountain Dew.

-petty drama drives me absolutely bonkers. If you have something to say, come say it to my face, don't go through two or three different channels to get it to me.

-that I haven't been home to my parents in almost a month and I'm really starting to miss my dogs.

-I had a dream last night that I was a close friend or family member of Deacon's from Nashville and he had just fell off the wagon because of the drama with Rayna and Maddie, he had gone to Frankie's bar that was no longer the Beverly & for whatever reason Frankie called me to come get Deacon and I tried to get him home.  I may have been dreaming as Scarlett, I'm not sure.

-to go along with my last confession, I'm sad that Nashville got cancelled, but I'm really excited that Last Man Standing got renewed.

-that I'm not sure that there's even a confession link-up anymore, but I still like sharing these!

What's one of your confessions?

Currently..

found via my That's So Meghan board on Pinterest.

Loving: my tribe. Sometimes you just need someone to tell you that you're not going crazy, that your feelings are validated and that you DO matter.  Other times you need them to tell you to get over yourself and put your big girl pants on.  It's all about balance.

Reading/Watching: I'm getting back on the reading train, I'm reading the Assassins series by Toni Aleo at the moment.  & I'm FINALLY caught up with Grey's because I kept getting bugged by the best friend to catch up so we could talk about it and holy wow it's been good lately! Also Last Man Standing is hilarious. Also x2 This is Us that's going to be on NBC this fall, I will def be watching that.

Trying to: not lose my cool. Hence why I'm loving my tribe and my work momma especially hard this week, because I am about this close to losing it. #keepingitreal

Wishing: it was cabin time right now. I could use a couple of days away from everyone, hello no cell service a few good books and my WIP.

Excited for: cabin time and going up north to see my cousin graduate high school in a couple weekends.

Thankful Thursday..

After a slow and kind of crap start to my week, I decided to start today off right with a list of just a few of the things I'm grateful for this week.

My tribe| Tuesday was tough, and without them, I surely wouldn't have made it through work without completely breaking down. Much love to my people, especially Karen, Jayme and Trisha!

Bad days| I know that probably sounds nuts, but if I didn't have bad days, how would I be able to cherish and appreciate the good ones?

Weekend plans|Roadtripping with my Momma up to her old stomping grounds to watch one of my cousins graduate college and go to a concert with another one of my cousins!

Cooper pictures| All I have to do is text my Lynn-Mom "hey I'm having a bad day, can you send me a picture of my baby?" and although he's usually having an attitude, she will at least send me a picture of his back and him not facing her, here's a picture of him that I took last week when I went home...

So tell me, what's one thing you are grateful for today?

The Last..

I've seen this kind of post floating around the blogosphere, so I thought I'd jump in and play along! Also, May the Fourth be with you :D

Thing I ate... a Reese's egg. I still have some stashed in my freezer.

Thing I watched... last night's episode of The Voice. I'm really loving Mary Sarah from Blake's team!

Account I followed on Instagram... Darby Stanchfield, she plays Abby on Scandal.

Blog I visited... The Everyday Joys, I read her birth story for her daughter Tenley :)

Activity I did... poured my coffee, I have a feeling it might be a multiple cup day. #justsaying

Song I listened to... If You're Going through Hell by Rodney Atkins.

Person I talked to... other than myself you mean? #livingaloneprobs I talked to Vanessa last night on the way home from work.

Time I swore... I said fark last night at work...the Money Order machine was acting up.

Book I read... I have to get my act together and get my read on, I'm severely lacking in my goal of 100 books this year.  I'm pretty sure it was Too Late by Colleen Hoover!

Thing that frustrated me... trying to get this Saturday off so I can go see my cousin's college graduation.
